Peterborough's First Annual World Tai Chi Day occurred on the front steps of Peterborough City Hall and was attended by about 50 people, which was a great turn-out!

The temperature rose to accommodate us, though it was still a bit chilly. We gathered a goodly amount of donations for the Peterborough Food Bank and snagged a few passers-by!

Thanks to everyone who honked as they drove past and to members of other martial arts clubs who joined us! A great big thank you to the media, as well, for their enthusiastic coverage of this event, in particular Barbara Singfield of CHEX TV, Natalie Miller of PeacefulCommunities.ca and Cliff and (name to be supplied asap) of the Examiner.

We are going to ask her honor the Mayor to proclaim WTC&QD here in Peterborough for 2004.

Dear World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters,

NEW WTCQD DATE: The LAST SATURDAY OF APRIL AT 10 AM.
[for countries that work a half day on Saturdays, feel free to hold your events in the afternoon if you think that will maximize attendance.] World Tai Chi & Qigong Day WILL FROM NOW ON "ALWAYS" BE THE LAST SATURDAY OF APRIL.

WHY WE CHOSE the LAST SATURDAY IN APRIL:
As you can imagine we had hundreds of varying suggestions on changing the date. To give you a flavor, about 30% said the last Saturday "or" Sunday of April would be okay. 30% said Sunday was good. HOWEVER, the 30% of respondents opting for last Saturday said that SUNDAY DEFINITELY WOULD "NOT" WORK, DUE TO USING PUBLIC FACILITIES, AND OTHER REASONS.

Thanks to all for yet another successful global event. We expect more major media from the 2003 event. We'll let you know as it appears.

Below is our poster for World Tai Chi & Qigong Day. Hopefully, you will see it all around town!
We're keeping it simple for our first annual Peterborough World Tai Chi & Qigong Day. We'll meet at 9:30 for some simple, preliminary instructions, some warm-ups and then attempt to do the 18 move shibashi qigong over and over for an hour!
Please invite everyone you know to attend. This is an INTERNATIONAL event in a time of war! Help promote World Health/World Peace!

WHY: To promote World Health & World Peace
HOW: Join us around 9:30 a.m. on the front steps of Peterborough City Hall. No previous tai chi experience needed! We will be demonstrating the simple and lovely 18 move qigong, which you will find extremely easy to participate in!
 

 

On April 12th, 2003 at 10 am, beginning in the Earth's earliest time zone, a peaceful soothing event will unfold, and change the world forever, as it blooms around the Earth throughout the entire day…time zone by time zone. Gently and effortlessly the world will breathe together in a T'ai Chi & QiGong relay of calm. World T'ai Chi & QiGong Day will be held on the Saturday immediately following the United Nation's World Health Day, and will entail T'ai Chi & QiGong groups and members of the community around the world gathering at 10 am (each city's local time) on April 12th, 2003 to exhibit the benefits of T'ai Chi & QiGong to the world in mass gatherings in public parks or the lawns of public buildings, so as to be visible to the community and media. www.worldtaichiday.org.

Things are growing fast. WE JUST PASSED 700 EVENTS FOR WORLD T'AI CHI & QIGONG DAY 2003, SATURDAY APRIL 12TH, 10 AM, WORLDWIDE, IN 52 COUNTRIES, AND MORE ARE ADDING DAILY !! The great state of Utah's Governor just officially proclaimed World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day 2003 for the U.S. State of Utah !! [Please update us as other states/nations proclaim it.]

Dear World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters,
We are rapidly nearing 700 events worldwide. We just added our first event in Ireland and Israel expects another MASS event, as well as of course Hong Kong, Los Angeles, San Juan (and many others)!! Mass events are occurring worldwide in countries on all continents (except Antarctica, if you know a tai chi or qigong'er there, ask them to join us).
Your efforts to contact Tai Chi & Qigong groups worldwide and invite them to join us, is expanding this event very rapidly. MANY EVENTS will be MASSIVE. To give you an idea of the enormity of this global healing wave, we've listed a recently updated list of events who have estimated attendance.
